Popti is a traditional delicacy of kokan region enjoyed with the fall of temperature. Popti is roasted in a clay pot in open fire for an hour or so has a unique taste which last on your tongue and memory in your mind. Popti pot is a specialised task, and one left best to the local pot setter who have a unique preparation of marinated chicken with home ground masala placed in earthen pot stuffed along with bhamburdi (local herb), carom seed, waal pods (a kind of beans),peas, eggplant, onions, potatoes, eggs, and all veg delicacy to its heavenly taste.
POPTI is never eaten alone, it is always for a party time. The pot in the fire is kept in the center and everyone sits around the pot warming themselves idyllically in the warmth of the dying embers of the fire on which the Popti was cooked.
